This unique Walt Whitman t-shirt is a special edition, front-only, tee featuring "Walt's With Me" on the front. It's a bit of a departure from the rest of the Novel-T linebut for Whitman we're willing to make an exception.
The image on this Walt's With Me tee is adapted from the print (an engraving of a photo) used as frontispiece to first edition of̴Ì_Leaves of Grass, 1855, when Whitman was 37.
Whitman favored the photo "because it is natural, honest, easy: as spontaneous as you are, as I am, this instant, as we talk together," and insisted on positioning the print so it faced his poem "Song of Myself" because the portrait "is involved as part of the poem."
To us, it's Quintessential Whitman. Fully at home in his skin and his clothes, even as he's playing a the part of self-anointed national lyricist. And as he's singing to you, you might as well accept his offer to dance.
